Hi, my name is Josh Brearley from Canberra Australia. I love traveling and can’t get enough of it. There are so many amazing places to see and activities to do in this great big diverse world, why spend your spare time at home when you could be out there experience it. The first country I visited was New Zealand in 2004, to see if I could travel overseas. Well, after the terrific sites and awesome experiences I had in NZ I went back to work and told my bosses I was going to be leaving and a few months later I was begining my two year Europe backpacking adventure / British working visa. My goal for these two years was to work as much as possible (not in a pub) then travel outside of my contracted hours and see as many European countries as I could. Whilst living in Earl’s Court in London, yes I know very typical Australian living here, I stayed at the Nevern Hostel for 1 year 3 months living with sometimes up to 100 people at a time and this was great way to meet like minded travelers up for adventures and seeing what Europe has to offer us mostly Australian, New Zealanders and South Africans. For the remaining 9 months I was living in London I was either living in a share house with four other travellers or backpacking around Europe for extended periods of time. These two years gave me a thirst for traveling which has not been fully quenched yet and as of 27 April 2018 I have travelled to 43 countries with no sign of slowing down. SInce 2014, I have started to combine my other passions in my traveling, fitness. This was the year that I completed my first overseas half marathon which was the US Half in San Francisco California. SInce 2015, I have aligned myself with the charity SoldierOn Australia and have raised money and awareness in many fundraising events and to date the biggest personal achievment was in 2017 where I made it to Mt Everest base camp and hung the SoldierOn flag at the camp. If I get to travel to 50 countries I would have seen roughly a 1/4 of the world as there is currently 195 countries. I would love to achieve this in my 40th year and I believe this is possible being 38 years old now and having future trips planned already. 50 countries would be nice but the altimate would be to see all 195 countries and set foot on every continent. Thankfully I have a lot of annual leave and long service leave coming up shortly so will definatly be taking advantage of these in the not too distant future. So join me as I jet set across this beautilful world taking you on a journey of discovery and wonder of what you could do too if you get out of your comfort zone and go on an adventure. The memories will outlast the latest technology.
